Accounts preparation
We prepare full statutory accounts for limited companies, and accounts for sole traders, partnerships, individuals and trusts — across Northern Ireland, the rest of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
That means the year-end file done properly: the trial balance worked through, the disclosures right, the accounts filed at Companies House on time, and — the part that actually matters to you — someone sitting down and telling you what the numbers say about the business.
Self assessment
We prepare and file self assessment tax returns for sole traders, partners, company directors, landlords, CIS subcontractors and anyone else HMRC expects a return from. We tell you what you owe and when, well before the January deadline, so the bill is never a surprise.
Making Tax Digital — VAT and Income Tax
We handle Making Tax Digital on both sides of it.
MTD for VAT applies to all VAT-registered businesses. Records have to be kept digitally and returns filed through compatible software, with a digital link running from your records to the return — no re-typing figures into a portal.
MTD for Income Tax is the newer one, and the one catching people out. It became mandatory on 6 April 2026 for anyone whose qualifying income for 2024/25 was over £50,000, dropping to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. Qualifying income is gross turnover before expenses, not profit — which is why a great many sole traders and landlords are inside it without realising.
It replaces one annual return with quarterly updates plus a final declaration. We set up the software, keep the quarters filed, and make sure the records are in a shape that works from the start of the year rather than reconstructed the following spring.
Common questions
Do you prepare accounts for sole traders as well as limited companies?
Yes. We prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, individuals and trusts, in Northern Ireland, the rest of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Am I inside Making Tax Digital for Income Tax?
If your gross income from self-employment and property for 2024/25 was more than £50,000, yes — it applied from 6 April 2026. The threshold falls to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. It is measured on turnover before expenses, not on profit.
Does Making Tax Digital for VAT apply to my business?
If you are VAT registered, yes. You must keep digital records and file through compatible software, with digital links between your records and the return.
Can you take over my self assessment mid-year?
Yes. We will write to your previous accountant for the handover information. It is worth doing sooner rather than in January, when everyone else is doing the same thing.
