Sectors
We act for around 300 businesses and families across Northern Ireland, and a good number trading across the border into the Republic. Some of that work is general practice. Some of it is specialist enough that experience in the sector genuinely changes the answer.
These are the areas where we hold that depth.
Medical & Healthcare
GPs, HSC clinicians and dental practices. The 60% effective rate between £100,000 and £125,140, the annual allowance taper, McCloud and Remediable Pension Savings Statements, certificates of pensionable profit, and the tightening of dental associate status since April 2023.
Pharmacy
Community pharmacy and locum pharmacists. Stock valuation and how it moves reported profit, separating HSC from private and retail margin, locum employment status, incorporation, and buying or selling a pharmacy.
Legal
Solicitors and barristers. Reporting accountant’s reports under the Solicitors’ Accounts Regulations, client account reconciliation and residual balances, legal aid and work-in-progress timing — and for the Bar, the cash basis, aged fee notes and the income-spike tax bill.
Hair, Beauty & Barbering
Salons, barbershops, beauty rooms and self-employed stylists. Chair rental and employment status, the VAT treatment of chair rent, Making Tax Digital measured on turnover rather than profit, and the apprentice pay rate cliff.
Private Client
Families, landlords and business owners. The £2.5 million agricultural and business property relief allowance, inheritance tax nil rate bands frozen to 2031, capital gains, Making Tax Digital for landlords, and cross-border residence.
Dental
Practices, principals and associates. Associate employment status since HMRC withdrew its acceptance of BDA approved agreements in April 2023, Health Service income and superannuation, incorporation after the dividend rise, and buying or selling a practice.
Farming & Agriculture
Dairy, beef, sheep, arable and mixed holdings. The £2.5 million agricultural and business property relief allowance, the Farm Sustainability Payment, farmers’ averaging, the herd basis, diversification and succession.
Cross-Border Trading
Businesses trading either side of the border. VAT under the Windsor Framework — EU rules for goods, UK rules for services — Republic of Ireland registration thresholds, cross-border payroll and employees, residence and currency.
HMRC compliance
We specialise in HMRC compliance for small businesses and individuals — nudge letters, compliance checks and enquiries, disclosures, penalty appeals, Time to Pay and employment status reviews. We act as your agent and deal with HMRC directly.

Most of our clients are ordinary trading businesses — contractors, farms, shops, hauliers, professional practices — and the general accounts, tax, payroll and bookkeeping work is the same quality whether or not your trade has a page. If you are not sure where you fit, ring the office and ask.
We are at 6B Main Street, Castledawson, Magherafelt, and act for businesses across Mid Ulster, Belfast, Derry and the wider province.
